Garmin keeps updating traffic receiver application dating my mother
Hi There is another thread about Live Traffic happening but didn't want to hijack it. On the Garmin website, live traffic for the 3597 is promoted as such; "Garmin Traffic nüvi 3597LMT features Garmin Traffic to help you spend more time on the move. When I click on 'traffic' on the display when travelling now, I get an error message saying my power cord isn't compatible with this feature.Garmin Traffic is voice activated, so it responds to spoken requests.
It can even confirm whether or not you are on the fastest route. If the receiver is exposed to good signal and it still doesn't work within its defined area – then maybe return it for replacement or refund. I went to the Gamin support page and followed what was suggested there. I have a compatible power cable from looking at the sticker – GTM36 – even though the unit says I don't when I try and enable traffic. I am in traffic enabled areas, confirmed by this function working all right in the first few weeks after purchase. The receiver is placed on my dash, so it should be getting a signal.Anyway, I did as you suggested Keith and tried the GTM36 with my 3490 and traffic worked a treat. A note on the box says, "Lifetime traffic extends for the useful life of your Garmin traffic receiver or as long as Garmin receives traffic data from its traffic supplier, whichever is shorter. So I put the GTM36 back together with the 3597LMT and yep, that decided to work all of a sudden and without doing or changing anything as well. These past few weeks, the weather in Perth has been crap. All that cloud, cool and rain must interfere with the traffic signal. It might be early 2013; it has about a 7cm long narrow box on the power cord. A traffic receiver's "useful life" means the period which the receiver (a) has the required technical capabilities to utilize current traffic data service and (b) is capable of operating as intended without major repairs.
